Foxes and cinderfoxes

Out in the deserts and badlands lives the cinderfox, a fox with a living ember for a tail. See Creatures for how it fights and what it gives.

Both ordinary foxes and cinderfoxes can be won over with fish:

  • Fish that work: Cod, Salmon, Cooked Cod, Cooked Salmon and Tropical Fish. Pufferfish does not.
  • Each try uses one fish and has a one-in-three chance. Hearts mean success, smoke means try again.
  • A tamed ordinary fox belongs to you and starts sitting. Right-click it with an empty hand to switch between sitting and following. Feed it fish to heal 3 health.
  • Only you can command or feed your fox. The bond and sit order are kept when the world restarts.
  • It walks to you. A fox follows on foot; it does not teleport across obstacles or between dimensions.
  • Cinderfoxes still take rabbit too, and keep their fighting help and Ember Tuft.

Breeding foxes with berries works as usual, but the babies are not owned by anyone.
