Basinfill

What it is

Basinfill is a rank-I Frost world rune. It fills a small, enclosed, shallow hole with permanent source water.

A Basinfill spell has filled a small enclosed stone basin with source water

How to get it

Craft a Blank Rune, a Clay Ball and a Water Bucket together (you get the bucket back as normal), then learn the rune.

How to use it

Thread Touch + Basinfill for a nearby hole, or Bolt + Basinfill to reach one farther away. Aim at the floor inside the hole. The effect costs 6 base mana; your shape and modifiers set the full price.

The hole must be:

  • one block deep, with a solid floor and watertight sides;
  • at most 16 connected cells, each within 3 blocks (sideways) of where you aim. A 4×4 basin works if you aim at a corner.

Water already in the basin is fine. Blocks and plants inside are kept.

It refuses open edges, deeper pits, holes that are too big, protected or unloaded ground, and places where water evaporates, such as the Nether. One cast fills one basin. Power and radius modifiers do not make it bigger.

The water is ordinary water. It stays after you save and reload, and flows normally if you later break the banks.

Tips

  • Dig the basin first, then fill it. Check the edges for gaps if it refuses.
  • Fuse Basinfill with Grow at the altar to make Springbed, which also helps nearby bank crops grow. See Fused runes.
