Reed Refuges
What it is
A small woven canopy where a Lantern Newt can curl up and rest. It is habitat to watch, not a farm.

How to get it
| Craft (any arrangement) | Ingredients | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Reed Refuge | 3 Bamboo + Moonreed Floss + String + Seagrass | One canopy |
| Under the Reed Roof | Book + Moonreed Floss + Seagrass | Tamsin’s 3-page field journal |
How to use it
Place the refuge in shallow water so it keeps its water. A dry refuge is only decoration.
Newts look for a nearby wet refuge by day or in rain. A newt swims in, closes its eyes and curls its tail. Each refuge holds one newt, so build several for a busy bank.
A rest lasts up to 6 seconds. Then that newt waits 1 minute before visiting a refuge again.
These things end a rest early:
- feeding it seagrass
- Tidebreath or Life magic
- danger
- breaking the roof
A newt that was hurt stays frightened for 10 seconds.
Tips and counterplay
- Leave all four sides open so newts can come and go.
- Resting gives no healing and no extra Dusk Pearl. Pearls still follow the normal 2-minute rest.
- Read Tamsin’s journal for her notes on giving shelter without trapping wildlife.
