Runic Hearth
What it is
A Runic Hearth is a block you charge by casting spells at it. Spend the charge on small boons for the players around it, or start a Threefold Ritual with friends.
How to get it
Five Stone Bricks, two Gold Ingots, a Book and a Mana Crystal. The first player to use it becomes its owner. Only the owner can change its project.
How to use it
Use one of these items on the hearth to pick its project. The item is not used up. Changing project clears the charge.
| Use | Project | Charge it with | What a charge does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amethyst Shard | Reading Lantern | Fire or Arcane spells | Night Vision for 60 seconds to players nearby |
| Wheat | Bloom Planter | Life spells | Grows one young crop within 2 blocks by one stage. Never harvests. |
| Feather | Ward Chime | Wind spells | Slow Falling for 5 seconds to nearby players falling more than 3 blocks |
| Ender Pearl | Threefold Ritual | Three different elements | See below |
- Cast at the hearth from within 24 blocks. Your spell still costs its mana.
- A hearth holds up to 3 charges. It takes one charge a second at most, and spends one every 5 seconds.
- A fused effect counts for each element inside it.
- Boons go to players within 8 blocks.
- The owner and their party or team can charge it and get its boons.
- It only works while the owner is online in the same dimension.
- Use a Book on it to open your notebook. Use it with an empty hand to see its project and charge.
Threefold Ritual
- Set the project to Threefold Ritual (Ender Pearl).
- Use a Mana Crystal on it to begin. The crystal is used up, except in Creative.
- Cast three different elements at the hearth.
The ritual finishes 20 seconds after it starts, or 10 seconds with two or more contributors. Contributors who are still nearby get Regeneration for 10 seconds, and the owner gets a Torn Page. Then the ritual rests for 60 seconds.
Tips and counterplay
- Bring friends: two contributors halve the ritual time.
- An unfinished ritual waits for its owner to come back. Nothing happens while they’re offline.
- Breaking the hearth loses its charge and ritual progress.
