Root Carry

What it is
Root Carry moves a young Cinder Fern to nearby soil without uprooting it. The fern keeps its exact state, so you can start a garden from one wild plant. It is a rank-II Life world rune.
How to get it
Craft one Blank Rune, Rooted Dirt, Bone Meal, String, two Lapis Lazuli and one Gold Ingot, then learn the rune. It can also be found in the Living Greenhouse and the Rootbound Maze.
How to use it
Thread it with a direct shape such as Touch + Root Carry. The effect costs 8 base mana; your shape and modifiers set the full price.
- Cast at a young Cinder Fern. The fern stays put, and the spell remembers it for 15 seconds.
- Cast again at the top of empty soil. The same fern moves there. Root Carry then rests for 20 seconds.
Each cast pays the normal spell price.
Limits
- Both spots must be visible, loaded, allowed to you and within 6 blocks of your eyes.
- The new spot can be at most 8 blocks from the old one.
- The fern can go on Dirt, Grass Block, Coarse Dirt, Rooted Dirt or Podzol. Water or an occupied spot refuses it.
- Only young ferns work. If the fern grows or changes after you select it, the selection is lost.
- Walking out of reach, changing dimension, dying, disconnecting or waiting too long clears the selection.
A failed move never makes an extra fern or drops. The rest timer survives reloading.
Tips
- A hot fern stays hot and a cooled fern stays cooled after the move.
- Prepare the soil first, so the second cast lands quickly.
