Mines, Forges and Crystals

Ten small sites about mining, forging, crystals and subterranean drainage. They appear only in newly generated chunks. Each one has chest loot built around the delving runes and the Iron and Stone breathing methods. When you walk into one, it is written in your lore journal and you get its advancement.

The sites

Hillside Mine	At the foot of a slope in windswept hills, meadows, groves and taigas	A plank yard, a pit with a headframe, a sorting shed with the tally barrel, and a framed tunnel with rails running into the hill. The tunnel walls hold some ore.
Mountain Forge Hall	Windswept hills, meadows, groves and snowy slopes	A stone hall with two smoking chimneys, a row of blast furnaces, anvils and smithing tables, and a lava channel behind iron bars. The masterwork chest sits in the middle of the hall.
Crystal Survey Lab	Under forests, taigas, plains and savannas	Look for a small cobble cairn with a pole, a lightning rod and a crystal. A trapdoor in the cairn opens onto a long ladder down into a buried geode, where a plank platform holds the surveyors’ bench and two chests.
Collapsed Delve	Forests, taigas, plains and hills	A rubble mound and a broken headframe over a stair down to a propped antechamber. One Runebound zombie miner keeps it, with bolt and mire spells. At the back, the roof has fallen in.
Basalt Foundry	Basalt deltas, in the Nether	A blackstone hall with two lava troughs set into its floor, crucibles and blast furnaces. A Runebound wither skeleton adept holds it, with bolt and ember spells, backed by a blaze and a magma cube.
Deepslate Vault	Deep under forests, taigas, plains and savannas	A small stone tower with a trapdoor sits over a ladder shaft down to about y -5. Below is an antechamber held by two Runebound skeletons, one of them an adept, and a warded vault behind a sealed door.
Prospector’s Camp	Badlands	Two canvas tents, a sluice box, a panning cauldron, a campfire, and a lookout tower flying a red flag. Peaceful.
Miner’s Rest	Cliff edges in hills, savanna plateaus, meadows, groves and stony shores	A small shrine with a bell and candles, and a balcony over the drop with a lantern hung below on a chain. Peaceful.
Belowkeeper Listening Station	Underground in Belowkeeper Hollows, lush caves and dripstone caves	A mossy deepslate hall with timber shoring, a drainage sump, a Glowcap bed, a western resonance shutter lamp and lever, What the Empty Bell Kept on a lectern, and a Belowkeeper Listener resident. Peaceful.
Belowkeeper Bell Sanctum	Deep in Belowkeeper Hollows and dripstone caves	A circular deepslate and copper resonance court with four cardinal passages, a central pedestal, and a northern alcove holding a Listening Belfry, a supply chest and The Unclappered Bell. Waking the belfry in Survival challenges the Hollow Bell.

Puzzles

• The fallen roof (Collapsed Delve). Gravel fills the back of the antechamber up through the roof. Dig it from below and more falls in. Shore up the roof first, or dig around from the side. A trapped villager and the crew’s cache are behind it.
• The vault door (Deepslate Vault). The door is made of earth and fire seals. A magma block and a mud block on either side give the hint. The vault walls are warded and can’t be dug through, so the seals are the only way in.

Rewards

The loot is kept moderate. You will find some ore and raw metal, iron and stone tools, forge items, and delving rune scrolls such as Stair Delve, Tool Mend, Hollow Sense, Shore Up, Lava Seal, Deepway, Ore Tally and Caveward. These are part of the delving pack in the everyday rune packs.

There are no stacks of netherite anywhere.

Advancements

The Hillside Mine’s advancement sits under Ley Line. The other nine sit under Hillside Mine: Mountain Forge Hall, Crystal Survey Lab, Collapsed Delve, Basalt Foundry, Deepslate Vault, Prospector’s Camp, Miner’s Rest, Ears in the Stone (Belowkeeper Listening Station) and The Unclappered Bell (Belowkeeper Bell Sanctum).

Safe digging

• Underground sites stay out of the deep dark, so they never cut into an ancient city.
• They skip spots where the ground’s own water or lava would flood them.
• Lava in the forge and foundry, and water in the sluice, are closed in on every side, so they never spread.

None of these sites is added to old chunks by the safe world upgrade. Explore new land to find them.
