Chorus casting

Three burning zombies on the grass, ringed by golden circles of light where several casters' spells braided together A chorus of fire. The circles of every voice turn together at the target.

What it is

When allied casters cast the same shape at the same target at the same moment, they sing a chorus: the last caster’s spell goes off much stronger, and everyone’s colours braid together over the target.

How to use it

Two or three casters sing together when all of these are true:

Rule Exactly
Same shape Each spell’s first shape matches: Bolt with Bolt, Burst with Burst.
Same kind of spell Both harmful, both helpful, or both neither. A spell that both harms and heals sings alone.
Same moment Each voice comes within 1 second of the one before.
Close together Each caster stands within 12 blocks of the one before.
Same target The same creature, or a point within 5 blocks of where the last voice aimed.
Allies Every singer is allied with every other.
Different casters You can’t sing with yourself.

Aiming

  • For shapes that travel (Bolt, Beam, Cone and so on), your aim is what you look at, up to 24 blocks away.
  • For shapes centred on you (Burst, Nova, Ring, Domain, Orbit and Trail), your aim is where you stand. Two Bursts sing together when the casters stand within 5 blocks of each other.
  • Aiming at another singer doesn’t count.
  • Self and Trigger spells never sing.

Who counts as an ally

Two casters are allies if they’re in the same party or team, or if neither could harm the other (with PvP off, any two players qualify). Two players duelling each other never sing together.

What a chorus does

The last voice’s spell is the chorus:

Voices Power Size (shapes Widen works on)
1 (alone) normal normal
2 +50% one Widen bigger
3 +100% two Widens bigger
  • More than three voices adds nothing.
  • The last caster’s own Heart Circles, charge and casting gear still count.
  • The earlier spells go off as normal. Nobody can cut your spell short by casting after you.
  • Everyone pays for their own spell. A chorus costs nothing extra.

You see Chorus! above your hotbar, rays of each singer’s colour meet at the target, and every singer earns the Chorus feat in the Grimoire.

Tips and counterplay

  • Count it in. Agree on a shape, then cast on a count of three.
  • The last voice matters most. Let the player with the strongest spell cast last.
  • Bursts are easiest. Just stand within 5 blocks of each other.
  • Mix elements for Unison. Hitting the same foe with different elements within a second is a separate bonus: Unison.
