Mentoring
A swordsman learns from a master through a lineage. Mentoring is the mage’s version: a seasoned mage takes a newcomer under their wing and helps them through the first Heart Circles.
Taking an apprentice
- A mage of the 10th circle or past it can be a mentor.
- An apprentice has to be taken before the 5th circle, and can have only one mentor.
- A mentor takes at most three apprentices, and can’t take any while they still have a mentor themselves.
Use /mentor take <player>. They get an offer they can accept with /mentor accept or by clicking it. The offer lasts a
minute. /mentor shows your mentor and your apprentices, and /mentor end <name> ends an apprenticeship from either side.
The bond is saved with the world, so it outlasts a restart. So does an offer, for what’s left of its minute, even if
one of you logs out in between.
Learning
While you cast within 24 blocks of your mentor, the mana you spend counts 25% more toward your next Heart Circle. That’s the same pace a disciple learns near their master. It stacks with a coven.
Every circle you form pays your mentor in Mana Crystals: one for each of the first four circles, and two from the 5th on. They have to be online to be paid.
Graduating
When you form the 10th circle, you graduate and the apprenticeship ends on its own. Only the early circles go faster, so the long road to the 20th stays as long as it is.
