Skyray Mount

What it is

Beat the Tenth Circle’s tribulation, the first one where your Shadow leads the last wave, and a skyray comes to you. A Skyray Bridle falls from the storm with the rest of the spoils. Use it to call your skyray down from the open sky. You climb on at once, and it carries you through the air.

How to get it

The bridle is dropped once, when you win the tribulation of the 10th circle. It glows on the ground with the runes and crystals, so it’s hard to miss. There’s no recipe. Keep it safe.

How to ride

• Use the bridle to call your skyray. You’re seated on it straight away.
• Hold forward and it flies the way you look: look up to climb, down to dive. It won’t climb or dive more steeply than 60 degrees.
• Strafe to slip sideways at half speed, and hold back to brake and drift slowly backwards.
• Let go of everything and it hovers in place.
• Sneak to step off. You fall slowly for 8 seconds, so stepping off high up is safe if you don’t wait too long.

At full speed it covers about 17 blocks a second.

When you step off

Your skyray hovers where you left it for 10 seconds. Use it again within that time to climb back on. After that it goes back to the sky. Calling it again from the bridle sends off any of yours still waiting.

Only you can ride your skyray, and you can’t hurt it yourself. It has 40 health. If something brings it down, the bridle rests for five minutes before it can call another. Between calls the bridle rests for five seconds.

Tips

• You can’t call it while you’re riding something else.
• Skyrays are big, three blocks from wingtip to wingtip. Call it somewhere with room overhead.
• It flies through the Nether and the End as well as the overworld.
