Moonreed Gardens
What it is
Moonreed is a silver swamp flower that only opens after a Glimmerwing visits it at night. Each open flower gives Moonreed Floss, and the plant keeps growing back.
An open Moonreed after a Glimmerwing’s visit.
How to get it
Find Moonreed patches on swamp and mangrove swamp banks. Break a plant to take a cutting.
How to use it
Growing Moonreed
- Plant on dirt, grass, mud, muddy mangrove roots, clay, moss or podzol. It needs water beside the root (or up to two blocks below beside it), or rain.
- Leave the sky open. Wetland nights slowly prepare a bud. Life magic prepares a damp root sooner.
- A nearby Glimmerwing must touch the bud at night to open it. Spells can’t replace this.
- Use the open flower for one Moonreed Floss. The root stays and grows again.
Open flowers give a soft light (level 6) and stay open until you harvest them. Breaking an unopened plant gives no floss. Glimmerwings like light, so a nearby Marshlight helps draw them. Casting nearby can distract them.
The Dewglass Lens
Craft Moonreed Floss + Dusk Pearl + copper ingot + glass (shapeless).
| Use it… | It tells you |
|---|---|
| In the air | Points to the nearest Moonreed within 8 blocks across and 2 up or down |
| On Moonreed | What it needs: water, open sky, night, time, a moth visit, or that it’s ready |
| On a Lantern Newt | Whether it’s frightened, dry, ready for Seagrass, or how long until it is |
Each use costs 1 of 96 durability and starts a 5-second rest. It only reads; it never harvests or speeds anything up.
