Camp Concord

Two Arcane runes for a party at camp: Watchweft warns you when a monster comes close, and Manabraid lets you give spare mana to a friend.

Watchweft: a paper lookout

What it is. A folded-paper lookout on the floor. It warns you once, privately, when a monster closes in.

How to get it. Craft one Blank Rune, one Feather, one String, one Copper Ingot, two Lapis Lazuli and one Gold Ingot, then learn the rune. It can also be found in the Clockwork Crypt and the Astral Observatory.

How to use it. Thread Touch + Watchweft (or Bolt) and aim at the top of an open, dry, solid floor within 8 blocks.

  • The watch lasts 45 seconds. Stay within 16 blocks of it.
  • You get one warning when a visible monster that is targeting you crosses into 3 blocks of the lookout. Then the watch ends.
  • A monster already inside when you cast does not count.
  • Then Watchweft rests for 90 seconds. The rest survives death and reloading.

Water, blocked sight, a changed floor, walking away or running out of time ends the watch. A crowded area can leave the watch unable to see properly, and it says so rather than reporting all clear.

Tips. It only warns. It does not hurt, hold or push enemies. Use the warning to reach cover or ready a defence.

Manabraid: a willing gift

What it is. An offer of your mana to an ally, which they must accept.

How to get it. Craft one Blank Rune, three Lapis Lazuli, one Amethyst Shard, one String and one Gold Ingot, then learn the rune. It can also be found in the Clockwork Crypt and the Astral Observatory.

How to use it. Thread Touch + Manabraid and cast it on an allied caster. Allies come from teams and parties; turning PvP off does not make strangers allies.

  1. Your ally gets a 3-second offer. To accept, they let go of crouch (if crouching) and crouch once.
  2. You pay the normal spell price first. When they accept, you give up at most 24 more mana and they gain at most 16 (about 75% gets through). You always keep at least 2 mana.
  3. After a gift, you rest 30 seconds and they rest 10 seconds. Both rests survive reloading.

Both of you must stay alive, in the same world, within 6 blocks, in sight of each other, wearing the same Cords. You can crouch to cancel. A full-mana ally, too little mana on your side, or walking away also cancels. If they never accept, only the spell price is spent.

Tips. An empty comb means “offered”. Moving knots and a closed clasp mean mana actually moved. Passing mana down a chain loses some each time; it never creates mana.

Combine them

With an amethyst shard at the altar:

  • Watchweft + Ember → Starfire
  • Watchweft + Tremor → Geode
  • Manabraid + Heal → Soulbond
  • Manabraid + Jolt → Stormweave

With an amethyst block you can weave the exact effects instead. For example, Manabraid + Heal heals an ally and offers a gift in one cast. Copies of the spell (Echo and similar) share the original cast’s one watch or one offer; they do not add extra gifts.
