Reed Rattle
What it is
A handmade clay rattle on a bamboo handle. It lets you calm a warning Reedback Crab without magic.
How to get it
Craft it from 1 Moonreed Floss, 2 Clay Balls, 2 Bamboo and 1 String. Floss comes from a Moonreed opened by a Glimmerwing.

How to use it
- Wait until the crab raises its claws.
- Crouch within 3 blocks, with a clear view of the crab.
- Right-click the crab with the rattle.
The crab lowers its claws and stays calm for 6 seconds. That gives you time to cross its bank.
The rattle has 48 uses. After each success, every rattle you carry rests for 20 seconds. Swapping rattles does not skip the rest.
Failed attempts cost nothing. That includes standing, too far, blocked, wrong timing or resting.
Tips and counterplay
- Once the sweep starts, the rattle can’t stop it. Step sideways out of the lane.
- The crab has its own 10-second rest after any answer. Another player’s rattle or a water spell can’t keep it calm in a chain.
- Hitting the crab wakes it at once.
