Tameable Predators
The black bobcat has two kin, big cats you can tame, each with a perk of its own. All three are built alike. They follow you, sit when you tell them to, fight beside you, heal when fed what tamed them, and two tame ones in love raise a kitten of their own kind that is yours too. A lynx and a cougar won’t pair.
| Cat | Where | Tamed with | Chance | Perk |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Black Bobcat | Dark forests and old taigas | Fish, raw or cooked | 1 in 3 | None. It’s the biggest of the three to look at |
| Frost Lynx | Snowy taigas, snowy plains, snowy slopes and groves | Raw rabbit or raw chicken | 1 in 3 | Chilling bite |
| Dune Cougar | Savannas and badlands | Raw beef, mutton or pork | 1 in 4 | Keen eye |
Frost Lynx
A silver cat with dark spots, long black ear tufts and pale green eyes, a little smaller than the bobcat. It has 26 health and deals 5 damage. Cold never touches it, so powder snow doesn’t freeze it.
Chilling bite. Whatever it bites is slowed (Slowness II for 3 seconds) and frosted over. Each bite adds 5 seconds of frost, up to the point of being fully frozen, so a lynx that keeps biting can freeze something solid.
Dune Cougar
A long, tawny cat with a cream muzzle, amber eyes and a dark-tipped rope of a tail, as big as the bobcat. It has 34 health, deals 7 damage, and is warier than its kin.
Keen eye. While a tame cougar is standing (not told to sit) within 24 blocks of you, it watches over you. Every 3 seconds, every monster within 16 blocks of you glows for 4 seconds, so you can see what’s coming through walls and in the dark. Now and then it rumbles when it spots something.
Spawning
Both are rare and solitary, like the bobcat: one at a time, and not near another of their kind. They follow the wildlife master switch and spawn multiplier.
