Ley lines and the Wellstone
What it is
Ley lines are winding veins where the world’s mana runs close to the surface. On one, your mana flows twice as fast and Heart Circles form in half the time. A Wellstone set on a line becomes a well of mana for everyone nearby.
How to get it
Finding a ley line
- Wear a Cord: you see ley lines as ribbons of pale violet light along the ground. Without a Cord you see nothing.
- They exist only in the Overworld, come from the world’s seed and never move. There are no blocks to find or break.
- They wind and branch. Some areas are full of them, others have none for a long way.
- Stepping onto one shows “A ley line runs beneath you” above your hotbar. The first time earns the Ley Walker feat.
Crossings
Every few hundred blocks two lines cross. A ley crossing shimmers with turning rings and a faint column of light that you can see from further away. The first visit earns the Crossroads feat. See Places and Times of Power.
Crafting a Wellstone

How to use it

These add to your other regeneration boosts.
The Wellstone
- Place it on a ley line in the Overworld and it wakes: light 12, turning circles of light and a soft chime. The nearest player within 10 blocks earns the Wellkeeper feat.
- Off a line, or in another dimension, it sleeps with a faint glow (light 3).
- Its boost works for everyone nearby. Two Wellstones don’t stack.
- Mine it with any pickaxe.
What else gathers on ley lines

- Runes in the water: fishing in open water on a line, 1 catch in 20 also brings up a rune. See Fishing.
- Wild wisps rise from lines at night, and from an awake Wellstone at any hour. See Familiars.
Tips and counterplay
- Build your base on a line. Meditate there beside your Wellstone: +100% meditating, +100% line, +50% Wellstone.
- Form circles on a line, somewhere safe: half the time.
- Under a mana storm the ribbons surge brighter and wider, which makes lines easier to find.
- A Wellstone helps your enemies too. Fight away from theirs.
