Water Sites

Ten places by rivers, swamps, coasts, warm seas and frozen water. Each has a chest with fishing gear and runes from the Tide pack (see everyday rune packs), and each gives an advancement when you first step inside. Visits also enter your journal’s Places tab. They only appear in chunks you have not explored yet.

Site Where to look What is inside
The Last Crossing Luminous Reedlands A shallow ferry basin with four dry paths, a supply chest and an instruction book. Deliberately ring its bell to challenge the Reed-Crowned Ferryman. Visiting alone is peaceful.
Tideward Reedkeeper Landing Luminous Reedlands A survey house on stilts, a planted Moonreed garden and a resident fisher. Trade normally or crouch-use to hear permanent journal stories. The First Crossing on the lectern remembers the Reed-Crowned Ferryman. The chest holds surveying supplies and Water Reading, Tide Lantern or Reed Cut runes.
Stilt Smokehouse Swamps and rivers A smokehouse on stilts over the water. Smoked fish, rods, line and fishing runes. Steps lead up from the water. Runes include Angler’s Lure, Bait Blessing, Bobber Bell, Reeling Tide and Tackle Mend.
Lighthouse Beaches, snowy beaches and stony shores A tall tower with a lamp at the top. Read the keeper’s log on the lectern. A lever lights the lamp. The keeper hid a chest in the cellar: look for the cracked stone. It holds a spyglass, coast runes such as Tide Lantern, Storm Glass and Wreck Sense, and sometimes a buried treasure map.
Watermill River banks A mill with a wheel turning in the river and a miller at home. Bread, a bucket and water-drawing runes such as Spring Draw, Brimming and Sluice.
Ice Fishing Camp Frozen rivers and frozen oceans Two shanties on the ice, each over a fishing hole, round a soul campfire. Rods, warm clothes and fish-finding runes such as Ice Auger, Water Reading and School Sight.
Pier and Boathouse Beaches and rocky shores Walk up the steps and out along the pier. The boathouse at the end has a boat in its slip and a chest with a nautilus shell, runes such as Mooring Call, Lily Path and Dolphin Call, and sometimes a buried treasure map.
Sunken Shrine Warm and lukewarm oceans A shrine on the sea floor with a lit conduit, so you can breathe near it. Swim under the hall wall and up through the pool into an air pocket. The Tide tablet and the chest are inside. It always holds a Tide breathing page, plus a heart of the sea, Aura Shards and runes such as Ocean’s Favor, Diving Bell and Tidebreath. Two drowned guard the court.
Net-Weavers’ Huts Mangrove swamps Three huts on stilts joined by boardwalks. The workshop has the loom and the chest. Two weavers are home. Runes include Drift Net, Shoal Herd and Kelpsong.
Tidepool Grotto Stony shores A domed sea cave lit from a hole in its top, with pickles and coral in its pools. A Runebound drowned keeps the deep pool, with a second drowned nearby. Climb the stone step to the ledge for the hermit’s chest. It always holds a Tide breathing page, plus Aura Shards and runes such as Refloat, Axolotl Kinship and Tidehook.

Tips

  • The sunken shrine is deep. Bring a way to breathe for the swim down; the conduit helps once you are close.
  • The landing, lighthouse, boathouse, shrine and grotto each have a short book. Read it for a hint about the site.
  • The Reedkeeper’s Drowned Road story continues in the boathouse’s Second Count ledger beside its slip. The final chapter asks you to climb a lighthouse and light its lamp. An already lit tower also counts when you stand beside the lamp.
  • Server owners: these sites only generate in new chunks. They are not added to old ones by the world upgrade.
